Cabot Ransome “Randy” Cosby arrived on Planet Earth on December 20, 1954, in Knoxville, TN, and departed on December 24, 2023. He grew up and attended school in Waynesboro, VA, and received a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Virginia with a specialty in Structural Engineering. He always maintained a keen interest in any type of plans and sitework and enjoyed following the progress of all local construction projects. He designed roof and floor trusses during his career and retired from Universal Forest Products in Fishersville, VA.
Randy and his wife, Ramona Wood Cosby, were married for 41 years. They met and were married in Charlottesville, VA. They had 2 daughters, Lisa & Maria, and later welcomed their sons-in-law, "the Justins." His greatest joys were his four granddaughters, Emery, Hazel, Addie, and Ellie.
Some of Randy's favorite activities were sharing jokes, listening to vintage Rolling Stones and Eagles music, enjoying a good Chinese meal, drinking a beer while watching Animal House or The Simpsons, taking a drive on the Blue Ridge
Parkway, watching a game while cheering for his beloved Wahoos and most importantly, always continuing to learn new things.
Randy loved space exploration and got up early to watch rocket launches. He always believed there were so many things yet to be discovered. We wish he had known of this amazing experience, but we are sure he would consider this the greatest trip of his life!
We love you to the moon and back!
