Christopher "Sean" Rose, 53, lost his battle with cancer April 9, 2013, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was born January 4, 1960 in Jamaica, New York and grew up in Carrollton, Georgia, graduating from Villa Rica High School in 1978.
In May of 1980 Sean enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served honorably for 26 years, first as a linguist and then as an Intel analyst. During 26 years of distinguished service he called England, Maryland, Alaska, Texas and Germany home. He served as a centrifuge subject which he said was as close as he would get to space travel. His favorite expression was "I took more Gs than John Glenn." This final trip will allow him to actually realize his dream. He retired as a SMSgt in May of 2006.
He was a devoted husband of 31 years and a loving father. Sean had a passion for travel and history. He graduated with a BA in History from the University of Maryland in 2002. Life with Sean was filled with wit, humor, endless facts, and an immeasurable love. Sean's proudest role in life was that of Grandpa, he wanted to pass on to Declan his knowledge and experience and his constant awe at the universe.
Sean is survived by his wife, Laura Rose; his daughter, Megan Starr; son-in-law, Patric Starr; his beloved grandson, Declan Starr of Reno, Nevada; mother, Rosemary Rose of Carrollton, Georgia; sister and brothers, Ursula Rose of Atlanta, Georgia; Andrew Rose; Justin Rose; Lawrence Rose, of Carrollton, Georgia; and Stuart Rose, of Atlanta, Georgia; two nephews, two nieces and two great-nephews.
