Joel Patrick Crisp, age 47, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, May 13, 2024. Joel, also known to many as “Farmer Joe,” was born in Spokane, Washington, on April 23, 1977. He worked most of his career as an HVAC technician for Washington State University in Pullman and Spokane. His last and most enjoyable career was working and living in Green Bluff, Washington, with his family. Farming was in his blood.
In his youth, starting at the age of 6 and into his teenage years, Joel played Spokane youth hockey with his dad, Rick, as team coach. In elementary school, he was part of the “Woodridge Crew,” a group of boys he would keep in touch with throughout his life. He was a fierce and loyal friend who was always up for fun and shenanigans. Joel attended Shadle Park High School and graduated from Colfax High School in 1996.
On March 12, 1999, Joel met the love of his life, Jamie Willey, and they were inseparable from that moment on. They were married on June 21, 2003, at his parent's home in Green Bluff. They always had a strong sense of family. Joel was a father figure long before he became a dad himself. Spending time with his younger brothers Robert and Thomas, he took them to their first concerts and stepped in for “Dads’ weekends” at their schools. He started his own family, joyously welcoming their first child, Owen, on February 21, 2005, and their precious daughter, Taylor, three years later in December 2008. They made great memories dressing up as a family for many Halloweens. Taylor loved long talks with her dad and that he was always up for trying out goofy Instagram filters with her. Owen ………. Joel and Jamie enjoyed concerts, family trips to the coast, and days at the lake.
In his final years, music became his passion. The music industry and many talents enjoyed his contagious enthusiasm for the art. Quieter times for Joel included fishing, hiking, and spending time with his family.
Joel was a loving father who had a kind and gentle heart. He was a loyal and devoted husband to Jamie. He was an amazing son and brother. He was delighted to meet his granddaughter and his wife's namesake, Jamie Nataliya Kingson-Crisp, on May 2nd this year.
—survived by his son, Owen, and daughter, Taylor; his granddaughter, Jamie, and her mother, Ta’Laiah; his parents Rick and Claire Roening and Lynn (Crisp) Stamper; sisters, Jen MacEachern and Jackie Jordan; Brothers, Ryan Ballou, Robert and Thomas Crisp; brother-in-law‘s, Will Jordan and Dan MacEachern; his special aunt Kathy, and many other family whom Joel loved dearly. Poem
Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what’s to be,
A resting place along the road,
To sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We were meant to learn some things,
But never meant to stay…
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know,
For some the journey’s quicker,
For some the journey’s slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We’ll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord.
