Lifelong Connersville, Indiana resident, John D. Binder, 78, died Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Heritage House Nursing Home, with his wife of 57 years by his side.
John was born on October 5, 1942 to Leland Dean and Glenda Elizabeth Binder. He attended Connersville High School graduating with the class of 1960. After graduation, John enlisted in the United States Navy. He advanced to the position of flight engineer, sailing in the Mediterranean and patrolling for Russian submarines off the coast of Maine. John married the love of his life, Jeannine St. Pierre on October 12, 1963, in Lewiston, Maine. Following his honorable discharge, John began employment at the former Visteon plant, from which he retired as a Quality Control Engineer after 40 years of dedicated service. He was a faithful member of Glenwood United Methodist Church and enjoyed golfing, fishing and traveling to Maine and Florida. John adored his grandchildren, and enjoyed being involved in their lives. He will be greatly missed by all whom had the pleasure to know and love him.
John is preceded in death by his parents.
In addition to his loving wife, John is survived by his daughters and their husbands: Michelle Jarboe and Charles of Louisville, Kentucky, Deborah Crick and William Jobe of Madison, Indiana; sister: Dorinda Bright and Terry of North Vernon, Indiana; grandchildren: Victoria Doughty and Austin, William Samuel Crick, Catherine Jarboe, Leslie Isner and Matt. John also loved his four grandpuppies: Ace, Audrey, Lilly and Finn.
To honor John’s love of flying and aviation, the Celestis Aurora Flight will carry a portion of his cremated remains into space so that he can fly forever. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Foundation in John’s honor.
