Mary was born October 23, 1928, in Bristol Hospital in Bristol, Connecticut. She attended Bristol grammar and high schools. She lived on Farmington Avenue in Bristol, Connecticut, until moving to Plainville, Connecticut, in 1950. There, her parents built a house on top of a large sand bank that later figured into Mary's life.
Mary worked as an accountant for Hartford, Connecticut's Fred H. Williams insurance agency.
Mary would go each summer for a vacation to a house her parents owned in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. There she would enjoy the beach, clamming, visit the Saybrook Shopping Center, and golf at a nearby resort.
The Cutlers, who lived across the street in Plainville, had a son named Myron in the US Air Force Active Reserve, and he had just been released in 1953 from active duty after serving in the Korean war. He noticed the new house sitting on top of the sand bank and was curious as to who built on "his" sand bank that he used as a sliding place in winter. He decided to find out who had taken his favorite sliding place, so he went there and rang the doorbell. When the door opened, Mary was standing there and invited Myron in. After several visits, he was invited to go to Old Saybrook with Mary's family.
Mary and Myron went together, got engaged, and were married on May 2, 1953.
They initially lived in Plainville in a small house on Bradley Street. They then moved to the Southern part of Orlando (Pine Castle), Florida, in 1960, where Myron worked for Martin Orlando. They then moved to Bristol, Connecticut, until Myron retired from United Technologies Corp in January 1989. They then moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida, while still retaining their Bristol house, which they used in summers.
While in Florida, Mary developed cancer which went through various stages until she passed away in the John Dempsey Hospital of the University of Connecticut in Farmington, Connecticut. on November 26, 2021, after 68 years, six months, and 24 days of a wonderful married life of love.
Mary and Myron are scheduled to be on the Enterprise and Destiny flights and Mary is also scheduled for the Harmony flight; Mary and Myron's flights may be separate or together depending on life's circumstances, but they will both follow the same path.
The world loves you, Mary, and we hope that your message of love is contagious while on the Enterprise in deep space, the Destiny on the moon's surface, and the Harmony in earth's orbit.
