Stephen R. Way of Rootstown, Ohio, passed away on August 30, 2024, after a period of declining health.
Steve was born on January 12, 1947, in Miami, Florida, to the late Robert O. and Mary Dean (Fowler) Way. The oldest of six children, he spent most of his childhood in Dearborn and Detroit, Michigan.Steve graduated from Salesian High School in Detroit and the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. He taught Religion for four years at Saint Joseph High School in Cleveland before switching to the public sector. He worked at Stock Equipment Co. in management, retiring after more than 30 years with the company.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie Lyczek, and his son, Mica Lyczek-Way, as well as his Siblings, Christopher (Angie) Way, Peter (Ann) Way, Annie Hyde-Way (Robert), Greg (Volita) Way, Andy (Mary) Way and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Steve was an avid reader of History, Science, and Scientific Journals. However, his passion from an early age was Science Fiction. The possibility of travel to other planets and the occurrence of other lifeforms, captivated and held his imagination throughout his life. We are happy to honor his life by sending him into space to orbit the Earth for many years to come.
