Steven Carl Gadberry was born in California on January 15th, 1967. He grew up in Saudi Arabia and Singapore and was very active with motorcycles and bowling. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin University with a Bachelor’s in Marketing. Steven lived most of his life in California, where he enjoyed writing, poetry, and snow-skiing. He really enjoyed doing whatever he could for his friends and being a help to his family. The last two years of his life he moved back to Texas to take care of his parents. Steven loved the idea of being shot into space after his passing, so I had to make it happen.

Childhood Memory
Spending the night out on the sand Enjoying the coolness of the night
Compared to the extreme heat of the day.
Listening to the desert sigh as the blowing wind
Chases Earth's particles over the dunes.
Hearing pieces crunch between my teeth.
Seeing universal dust so clearly.
Constellations with life all their own
Where there is no light to dim the view.
Gigantic ball of fire slips above the horizon's rim.
A sky that everyone should witness once;
The red as deep as life's vital fluid.
An ocean of sand has beauty none can deny And, like the cruel sea, the careless expire As the sun bakes salt from the blood.
